Unlock E220 HSDPA Modem

Step 1

Required Softwares for the Hack. Here it is again for free !!! Click Here
  • Huawei E220 Firmware
  • Hex Editor XVI32
  • QMAT - QC Mobile Analysis Tool
  • E220 SimLock Unlocking Tool
Note:
No need to get the latest version of E220 Firmware for unlocking. It just use for detecting the Harware Interface. For Hex Editor, QMAT and E220 SimLock Unlock Tool requires no installation. They just exe files and double click on them to run.

Step 2
  • Remove the SIM card and connect the E220 USB Modem to the PC
  • Run the E220 Firmware
  • Now you'll get the following window. Select "I accept the agreement"

  • Then wait untill it detect the modem interface

  • After the detection of Modem, you will get the following window. Press Cancle


  • Press Yes to Quit from the Firmware Update Process and this completes the Step 2




Step 3

  • Run QMAT and select : Hardware Forensics -> Use Com/USB Port

  • Select the correct COM interface which was detected by Firmware Updater


  • Select Command VERNUM and Press Send Cmd. Then you will get version number and display Successfully Send Command at Bottom of the window if you correctly set the COM interface. If this not succes then make sure you are selected correct COM interface


  • Now Select Read EFS and set the End address as 00001000 and then press Lets Go.Now you will asked to save the file. Give name as Flash.bin and save it any where.

  • You will get Successfully read EFS if all the things went correct.


Step 4

  • Run XVI32 Hex Editor and Open the saved file Flash.bin

  • Find the Hex String 53 64 2C 00 or Text String Sd in the dump. Select menu item, Search -> Find


  • In the same line of the corresponding place of the right side window will show the 8 digit lock code of your modem. It is easy to find that, there is no other 8 consecutive digit in the same line of the string 53 64 2C 00



Step 5

  • Run E220 SIM Lock Unlock and enter the unlock code of your modem


  • Hurrayyyyyyy......... It is successfully unlocked. Now you can use it for any Network

  7. I tried searching for the string 43 64 2C 00 but could not find. Then started removing characters until searching for only 53 64, and voila, found it and got the unlock code in the next line. IT WORKED.... Thank you so very much...

  13. Try with E226. Might be worked but not sure. There will be no harm for reading flash file into PC. After that there will be Unlock code in a different location. So search string will not be same as 53 64 2C 00

  17. After creating Flash.bin and opening in Hex Editor XVI32, search for string 53 64 2C 00 turns up no results. I can search "53 64" but there is no 8 digit code shown on the right. Any help?

  19. if you keep searching for the string, it will eventually find it..as tutorial says, you knpow which one you need, because it's the only one with 8 digits grouped together..unlocked mine perfectly, to change profile, just create a new profile, and leave everything blank.

  22. Ok after second try it WORKED when i looked only for 53 46 then it found it and the 8 digit number came on the right. It unlocked my HUAWEI E220. Thanks a lot to the Autor!

  47. Works perfectly, nice post!! I have E220 from Vodafone UK, and actually the unlock code is not as exactly described in this post.
    1. Don't search for the full string 53 64 2C 00, only search for 53 64. There are likely to be a couple of instances, you want the first instance of this.
    2. The unlock code is not exactly after it, it's maybe next line down in the hex util. Look for 8 numbers in the ASCII window on the right, 1 line below the 53 64 string - it's very obvious what the unlock code is. There are no other sequential numbers around it.

    Other than that, excellent post! I am sitting here happily on Virgin Australia using an unlocked VF UK E220!

    I've remove the dongle and plunged it to another USB port in my pc. then it has worked.

  75. Yay! Thanks for this.

    Ok so for those that struggle. Here is the low down.

    First off, just search for 53 64 on the matrix.

    Then even if you get 53 64 21 00 use the 8 digits on the opposite side, even if its a row below.

    Then I got an error message "open port failed" This is cause your system is trying to access the dongle with more than 1 program.

    I then installed the unlocker on my desktop and ran the number through there.

    Voila! Both Tmobile and Three unlocked.

    Tested my Tmobile dongle with the Three sim. Yes, worked!

  96. Those who get the error massage "Failed to open port". Plug the Modem without the sim card or disconnect it from mobile partner and close all the programs which try to connect to the internet. Then run the Unlocker. Will be fine.

    I've just successfully unlocked my e220 3g by e220 logger and i stumbled upon a problem of i canot get it working at all. The mobile partner v11.030.01.07.03 is installed, and it detects the modem all right but it shows no network connections avaiable although there are many of them in the real. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no visible result.

    If there is any solution for this problem what would it be ?

  126. @bachtiar : saving file didnt have to be flash.bin. I tried save as it many times but the file didnt exist. It became named $. So I tried open $ in XVI32 Hex Editor. And it worked!!!
